About Boxes&Pipes

I’ve got a deep and long-running passion for technology, but not just for technology’s sake.  We’ve all been there and seen that.  The coolest piece of software.  The slickest looking piece of hardware.  That stuff is great, and we’re big fans of it, not to mention consumers of it.  The problem is when all of that great stuff doesn’t work the way you want it to work, or when it’s not living up to its potential because you’re not aware that there is a lot more you can do with it.

Boxes&Pipes is focused on the technology solutions that you care about but weren’t aware of – the subtle tricks, hard-to-find tips and well-kept secrets that can make your life @home and @work easier, more efficient, more interesting, and perhaps most importantly, less stressful.  The basics.  The boring stuff – but the stuff that keeps your data backed up; the stuff that allows you to manage calendars for your entire family without going crazy.

In the IT world we refer to the boring stuff as infrastructure – servers and data rooms (Boxes) and connectivity and bandwidth (Pipes).  But sometimes, it’s the boring stuff that makes the world go ’round.
